Boost Your Infrastructure This Holiday Season With Two Words

The President signed a $1,200,000,000,000 infrastructure bill into law.

Why not sign your own “roads and bridges” bill?

Two words build bridges into the richest resources.

#1 Draw near . . . to creativity

How many years has it been since you drew near to creativity?

It’s not effortless like it was when you were young.

No skateboard? No problem. Split a pair of skates. Nail to a board. There you go! Flying down the sidewalk on your new creation!

Growing up in West San Antonio, we didn’t have the money to buy the fancy skateboards. My neighborhood buddies didn’t either. But, that didn’t stop us!

Life is different now. Time passes with career and who knows what.

Why not rekindle creativity?

No better way to unlock it than music lessons.

So, I ordered a Jean Paul alto sax on Amazon.

When the axe arrived, I was a kid on a playground again!

Haven’t played since my U.T. Jazz Ensemble days in the 70s.

My goal is simple. Practice 10 Christmas carols and play them jazzy style for the family on Christmas Eve.

“Meaning lives inside of us. But it is manifest through the act of creation.” Erik Wahl

#2 Draw near. . . to family

How’s your family infrastructure this year?

Family magic depends on whether we draw near.

Not them. But, us.

I got to thinking about this because of all the schedules.

Our 2021 family holiday gatherings fall on . . .

  • different days
  • different cities

That’s OK.

I’ve learned that the party happens where the host smokes the meat.

So, I ordered a smoker for holiday gatherings.

I’ll let you know if that narrows celebrations to one city.

#3 Draw near. . . to God

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8

What a tremendous option to seize!

Anyone can do this at any time, any place.

Last week I watched this fisherman draw near.

No bass were biting. But, the Creator showed off his art.

How many Novembers does this play out?

  • Short days
  • Cool evenings
  • Orange, red and yellow colors

God seeks us every day through beauty and the sheer size of it all.

How are you drawing near to creativity, family and God this holiday season?
