How vitamin D wipes out depression and other nasty diseases

Vitamin D has the potential to wipe out depression, autoimmune disorders and seasonal viruses.

Vitamin D and depression

My last physical, the doctor said my vitamin D level was too low.

I was shocked because I drink milk all the time.

“You should really consider spending 3-4 hours per week in the sun.”

I replied, “Seriously?  What about skin cancer doc?”

“Moderation Steve.  All you need is 15-30 minutes a day.  Remember, most diseases like depression are due to chemical imbalances.  Sunlight grows melatonin in your body and melatonin regulates your hormones.”

In his book, “The Depression Cure:  The 6-Step Program to Beat Depression without Drugs,” Stephen Ilardi says depression is ten times higher today than two generations ago. And that was in 2010.

Here’s Ilardi’s depression cure . . .

  • Daily work or meaningful activityGarfield_blog.steveblaising.com
  • Daily exercise
  • Daily social support
  • Daily nap and regular sleep
  • Daily intake of fatty acids
  • Daily exposure to sunlight/vitamin D

“Without light exposure, the body clock eventually gets out of sync.  This can trigger clinical depression.  Because natural sunlight is so much brighter than indoor lighting-over a hundred times brighter, on average, a half-hour of sunlight is enough to reset your body clock.” Stephen Ilardi

Vitamin D and autoimmune diseases

The truth is that a healthy body involves tons of attention. Attention is a way to find healing and thrive.

A casual conversation with my brother pointed me to the Tennant Institute for Integrative Medicine.

Dr. Jerald Tennant MD, UT Southwestern has written numerous books on integrative medicine after curing himself of encephalitis.

He teaches that your body is like a cell phone.

It loses power every day and needs to be . . .

  • recharged with voltage
  • restored with nutrients

Chronic disease sets in when organs and nerves leak voltage.

Odd, but makes sense.

I never thought of the human body as one big battery.

Dr. Tennant explains why you need fresh voltage and fresh nutrients every day.

He says your body is made up of muscle battery packs. And just like a flashlight, if one battery is in reverse order, it shorts the circuits setting off all kinds of symptoms.

Root causes include . . .

  • mercury dental fillings
  • vitamin D deficiency
  • old root canals
  • metal toxins
  • scars

The right kind of electrical stimulation fixes the battery packs and the right nutrients promote healthy cell growth.

This regimen played a big role in my complete cure of an autoimmune disease called neuropathy.

Vitamin D and the flu

It’s reported that a healthy person is twice as likely to be infected with influenza when vitamin D levels are low.

Healthy vitamin D levels protect from infection.

“A colleague of mine and I have introduced vitamin D at doses that have achieved greater than 100 nmol/L in most of our patients for the past number of years, and we now see very few patients in our clinics with the flu or influenzalike (sic) illness.” Dr. Gerry Schwalfenberg, Canadian Family Physician, June 2015

And if you get the flu?  Use the hammer approach.

“In those patients who do have influenza, we have treated them with the vitamin D hammer, as coined by my colleague. This is a 1-time 50 000 IU dose of vitamin D3 or 10 000 IU 3 times daily for 2 to 3 days. The results are dramatic, with complete resolution of symptoms in 48 to 72 hours. One-time doses of vitamin D at this level have been used safely and have never been shown to be toxic.” Dr. Gerry Schwalfenberg, Canadian Family Physician, June 2015

Does high-dose vitamin D make a difference in your health?
