Reimagine the future with this time-proven formula

Reimagine your life with more joy and satisfaction.

Even at 95, Peter Drucker was enthralled with his future.

His secret for a bright future surrounds 3 habits.

1. Reimagine fabulous where you are planted

Lots of folks are dazed and lonely working from home.

Reimagine before going insane

An executive captured it well when she said, “It doesn’t feel so much like we’re ‘working at home’ right now but instead we’re living at work.”

So, you care for the kids (toddler or college grad), the pets, maybe your parents and it’s all you can do to avoid a miserable future.

But, a Brazilian writer and poet reminds us to see our bright future right where we are planted.

“The secret is not to take care of the butterflies, but to take care of the garden so the butterflies come to you.” Mario Quintana

Maybe you don’t see how your place in life blossoms.

But, fruitfulness in your garden every day sends new butterflies like . . .

  • deeper relationships
  • greater financial rewards
  • future invitations to garden elsewhere

Courage to act is the common denominator of . . .

  • hostages who survive
  • leaders who thrive

2. Reimagine faith in God

Still feeling hopeless?

Reimagine the possibilities of trusting God.

Peter Drucker did.

In a 2005 interview with USA Today, columnist Bruce Rosenstein asked Drucker at age 95 what he was reading for inspiration.

“I always read a little in the Bible, mostly either the Psalms or the Epistles of St. Paul. Just now I have begun re-reading the Epistles and find them very exciting, and full of insights earlier readings didn’t reveal. “ Peter Drucker, USA Today, 11/15/2005

Why deepen your faith and relationship to God?

Because He is a one-of-a-kind partner.

What I learned from my worst crises like . . .

is that the most challenging moments come with surprising aid if you have faith.

This is one of the most important statements about God in the Bible.

“Praise be to the name of God forever, wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons. He sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He knows what lies in darkness and light dwells with him.” Dan. 2:20-22

Whatever your darkness, God knows it better.

“Light dwells with him.”

If God doesn’t change the circumstances, His purpose may be to change you.

“Reflect on the possibility that God may have placed you where you are to accomplish some mission, to do your best for others, and to defend eternal principles and values.” William Douglas, Federal Judge, Rio de Janeiro

3. Reimagine work with Marketing 3.0

Time is short, especially when you hit the fourth quarter.

Guess when the fourth quarter begins?

  • Die at 83, 4th quarter begins at 63
  • Die at 73, 4th quarter begins at 55
  • Die at 63, 4th quarter begins at 48
  • Die at 53, 4th quarter begins at 40

I’ve blown by these birthdays, so I have no problem adopting Philip Kotler’s third principle of marketing success, Marketing 3.0.

Kotler, a Drucker disciple, summarizes the history of Marketing . . .

  1. Marketing 1.0 (1960 to 1990) focus on selling products
  2. Marketing 2.0 (1990 to 2015) focus on satisfied customers
  3. Marketing 3.0 (2015 to present) focus on values and human beings

When our work elevates values and human beings, look out!

How do your goals match with Marketing 3.0?
