Extra Strength Every Day From This Six-Word Formula

Extra strength comes from a realm beyond the reach of the best rock climber.

Lock in the strength and power from this six-word formula.

Strength for your worst crisis

The U.S. President who dedicated the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor knew where to Grover Cleveland and strengthfind extra strength every day.

He needed it badly.

Grover Cleveland, the 22nd and 24th President of the United States . . .

  • presided over a national financial panic
  • battled life threatening cancer

Yet, his energy was boundless often working past midnight.

He found extra strength in a biblical promise.

“Your strength will equal your days.”  Deuteronomy 33:25

He hung this verse over his bed.

The President could see it every night and every morning.

When asked about the verse, he simply said, “If I have any coat of arms and emblem, it is that.”

Cleveland believed strongly in practical faith.

  • Faith that works
  • Faith that delivers

The Amplified Bible translates the verse, “As your days are, so will your strength, your rest and security be.”

You and I are not called to live in months or years.

Just days.

Actually, just an hour at a time.

Chew on these potent words the way President Cleveland did.

“I know as no one else can know my limitations, and how fixed and inexorable they are but I shall trust God, as I have in the past, for strength and opportunity.” Grover Cleveland in a 1906 letter to Wilton Merle Smith

Strength for your worst days

I’m encouraged how God offers strength every day.

How?

By counting our days and making our days count.

This advice was recorded by Moses.

“Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”  Psalm 90:12

The word “days” in Hebrew means the activities of each day and the word “number” means the thought placed behind those activities.

Strength comes from the intentional use of time because it is valued.

The word “wisdom” means “skill,” a sense of good choices.

Even when we suffer pain or reel from fear, we can live strong because we make good choices every day.

“Don’t waste your life in doubts and fears.  Spend yourself on the work before you, well assured that the right performance of this hour’s duties will be the best preparation for the hours and ages that follow it.”  Ralph Waldo Emerson
