Let’s go with a fresh direction in the days ahead.
Weary lives find pain-free energy in three simple steps.
1. Start fresh with a wet base
My son, Jack, came home for the holidays and asked me if I had a wet base.
Wet what?
“A wet base, dad.”
What’s that?
“You should drink two of those (tall glass of water) before your first cup of coffee.”
Honestly, I’m lucky to have one full glass of water a day, drinking lots of coffee or hot tea instead.
But, that’s changed and I’m excited about it because I feel the difference!
It’s no secret that eight glasses of water daily will boost . . .
- digestion
- circulation
- kidney function
- pain-free nerves
- gorgeous skin
- weight loss
- brain function
And, yet, it’s taken me 66 years to take the water thing seriously.
I’m fired up to keep a wet base because that’s what it is, a foundation for riveting strength.
Thanks for the reminder, Jack!
2. Disease-free with Vitamin D
Once the water park is rockin, add the disease police.
Really good things happen with Vitamin D.
Reduce effects of . . .
- autoimmune diseas
- influenza
- pneumonia
Studies everywhere show amazing immune boost and disease protection.
In March 2020, a peer reviewed article from the June 2020 Nutrients Journal concluded “vitamin D can reduce the risk of viral epidemics and many chronic diseases including cancers, cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory tract infections, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension.”
Then, in April 2020, numerous doctors wrote to the British Medical Journal suggesting that the simple correction of vitamin D deficiencies “convincingly holds out a potential, significant, feasible Covid-19 mitigation remedy.”
Finally, a team of doctors at Reina Sofia University Hospital in Cordoba, Spain, split 76 Covid-19 patients into two groups.
- One group got antibiotics and immunosuppressant drugs. Half went to ICU. Two died.
- Another group got the same treatment plus vitamin D. One went to ICU. None died.
“Vitamin D supports a range of innate antiviral immune responses while simultaneously dampening down potentially harmful inflammatory responses.” Adrian Martineau, PhD/Clinical Professor of Respiratory Infection and Immunity/Queen Mary University of London
After two years of regular Vitamin D supplementation, my . . .
- Neuropathy disappeared
- energy increased
- mood lifted
And guess what? No head colds, flu or COVID-19 as of this writing.
“If you are deficient in vitamin D, that does have an impact on your susceptibility to infection. So I would not mind recommending, and I do it myself taking vitamin D supplements.” Anthony Fauci, Instagram, 9/10/2020
Even when infected, symptoms and suffering can be reduced.
3. More sleep, less aging
After I read The Melatonin Miracle by Walter Pierpaoli and William Regelson in 1996, I started with 3 mg nightly. More sleep, less aging.
Now I take 21 mg.
The longer you take it, the more robust your immune system.
In fact, Feixing Cheng, PhD, working at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute, recently announced that folks who tested for Covid-19 and were taking melatonin had a lower incidence for testing positive.
“There are many possible mechanisms of melatonin in treating Covid-19 and our group is actively investigating it using cell-based and pre-clinical models.” Feixing Cheng, Healthline, 11/18/2020
Imagine feeling great gulping water, vitamin D and melatonin in 2021.
What’s your favorite health tip for the new year?
Yes, Jack is right. Drink a glass of water before and after brushing your teeth first thing right after you wake up, been doing that for ever. Also, (although I don’t always do it) before every meal and between every happy hour drink. Thanks for continuing to write cool stuff Steve. Regards…AB
We need all the health tips we can get AB. Thanks for your comment.
I’ve drunk lots of water for years… (Kidney stones). I figured that it helped otherwise… Great news.
A river runs through it
vit D3, alicin (pure form of garlic), zinc, B12, probiotic, and green shakes. i will add the water first. Thank you.
Steve! Good reminders!
I appreciate reading this, Stephen. I have it as part of my morning ritual that while my coffee is brewing I chug down a full glass of water. 🙂 Been doing this for quite a while, and I am so glad for its benefits.
I’m trying to catch up with you Wayne! I just started this water habit!
