Creatively foolish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Steve Jobs formally dropped out of Reed College, he informally dropped in on certain courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of his favorites was calligraphy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s why the fonts on a Mac are visually striking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Steve Jobs saw the craving for beauty before he saw programming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe designed the (calligraphy) into the Mac.\u00a0 It was the first computer with beautiful typography.\u00a0 If I had never dropped in on that single course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces.\u00a0 And since Windows just copied the Mac, it\u2019s likely that no personal computer would have them.\u201d<br>\u2014 Steve Jobs, 2005 Stanford Speech<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Great wealth is highly sensitive to the actions we take.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wealth breathes inside of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it\u2019s manifest through persistent acts of creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" id=\"h-wealthy-spark-2-fan-creativity\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Wealthy spark #2: Fan creativity<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stay glued to creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s not what George Bailey did in the movie <em>It\u2019s A Wonderful Life<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image size-full wp-image-969\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/George-Bailey-copy.jpg\" alt=\"Wealthy not found here\" class=\"wp-image-969\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/George-Bailey-copy.jpg 640w, https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/George-Bailey-copy-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">James Stewart as George Bailey\/American Film Institute<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He didn\u2019t have a wonderful life, just like so many in the workforce today, because he limited his work philosophy to hard-core grinding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That was it.&nbsp; Find a job that makes \u201ccents\u201d and stick to it even if it doesn\u2019t match your soul and spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s what Tom Douglas did in the eighties in Dallas, trying to lease buildings as a commercial real estate agent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I ran into Tom at church one day and asked him about business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He gave me that deadpan look and said it was so bad that it&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMakes you wanna smoke cigarettes and drink hard liquor.\u201d<br>\u2014 Tom Douglas<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like George Bailey, Tom was depressed in a highly commendable career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He knew his work wasn\u2019t glued to his soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So I asked him on another day at church, \u201cTom, what do you wanna really do?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWrite country music.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Right, Tom.&nbsp; Just like everybody else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Except Tom was rewarded when he did just that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Move to Nashville and write country music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;When I finally came to terms with the fact that creativity was a God given gift&#8230;and a gift I should treasure and enjoy&#8230;..things started to fall into place&#8230;.one gleaming Saturday morning at age 39, I sat down at an out of tune piano and opened up my black and white composition book and told the truth&#8230;I opened up a vein and bled on the page&#8230;..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I wrote a song about a guy starting over..I wrote my story..it is a metaphor&#8230;..staring down his demons&#8230;.asking for forgiveness&#8230;.broken&#8230;.needing and finding redemption&#8230;.&#8217;I think I\u2019m on a roll here in Little Rock&#8230;solid as a stone baby wait and see..got one small problem here in Little Rock&#8230;.without you baby I\u2019m not me&#8217;&#8230; Went to an NSAI songwriting seminar in Austin Tx &#8230;.re-connected with Paul Worley &#8230;a friend whom I had known when I lived in Nashville ten years earlier&#8230;there is a plan after ALL! In 2014, he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wealthy folks stay glued to creativity even when the present circumstances defy faith. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" id=\"h-wealthy-spark-3-be-an-amateur\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Wealthy spark #3: Be an amateur<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Be a silly amateur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">In his book&nbsp;<em>Show<\/em>&nbsp;<em>Your<\/em>&nbsp;<em>Work, <\/em>Austin Kleon says<\/span><\/span>&nbsp;that a pro is just an amateur \u201cwho gets obsessed by something and spends a ton of time thinking out loud about it.\u201d&nbsp;
