No problem.  Split a pair of skates. Nail to a board.  There you go! Flying down the sidewalk on your new creation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Growing up in West San Antonio, we didn&#8217;t have the money for fancy skateboards. My neighborhood buddies didn&#8217;t either. But that didn&#8217;t stop us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Life is different now.  Time passes with career and who knows what.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Steves-Sax-blog.steveblais-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Saxophone Rekindles Creative Passion\" class=\"wp-image-9197 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Steves-Sax-blog.steveblais-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Steves-Sax-blog.steveblais-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Steves-Sax-blog.steveblais.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why not draw near to creativity again?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No better way to unlock it than music lessons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, I ordered a Jean Paul alto sax on Amazon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the axe arrived, I was a kid on a playground again!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Haven&#8217;t played since my U.T. Jazz Ensemble days in the 70s.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My goal is simple.  Practice 10 Christmas carols and play them jazzy style for the family on Christmas Eve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Meaning lives inside of us. But it is manifest through the act of creation.&#8221;<br>\u2014 Erik Wahl<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" id=\"h-draw-near-to-family\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Draw Near to Family<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How&#8217;s your family infrastructure this year?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Family magic depends on whether <em>we<\/em> draw near.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not them. But us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I got to thinking about this because of all the schedules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Family holiday gatherings often fall&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>on different days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>in different cities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s OK.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;ve learned that the party happens where the host smokes the meat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, I ordered a smoker for holiday gatherings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;ll let you know if that narrows celebrations to one city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" id=\"h-draw-near-to-god\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Draw Near to God<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>&#8220;Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.&#8221;<br>\u2014 James 4:8<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What a tremendous <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/the-best-investment-i-ever-made\/\">option to seize<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyone can do this anytime, anywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last week I watched this fisherman draw near.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/November-Fisherman-blog-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Fisherman Draws Near God\" class=\"wp-image-9119\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/November-Fisherman-blog-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/November-Fisherman-blog-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/November-Fisherman-blog.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Drawing near begins with paying attention\/Lake Athens\/Steve Blaising<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No bass were biting.
