Your Attitude Shapes How You Age<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not your age.&nbsp; It\u2019s your attitude.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image size-medium wp-image-876\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"229\" height=\"300\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/satchel-paige-web-229x300.jpg\" alt=\"Satchel Paige defies aging\" class=\"wp-image-876\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/satchel-paige-web-229x300.jpg 229w, https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/satchel-paige-web.jpg 456w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 229px) 100vw, 229px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Satchel Paige<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That was dad&#8217;s point of view.\u00a0 Same with Satchel Paige.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAge is a question of mind over matter. &nbsp;If you don&#8217;t mind, it doesn&#8217;t matter.&#8221;<br>\u2014 Satchel Page<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One time, at rehab with heart failure, Dad listened intently to his pep squad, including the&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Physical Therapist<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Occupational Therapist<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respiratory Therapist<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGet out of the chair, walk 75 feet to the gym, do two 15-minute sessions on the bicycle, two sets of arm strengthening, and walk back to your room.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image size-medium wp-image-866\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"243\" height=\"300\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Ambad-the-gorilla-web-243x300.jpg\" alt=\"Heart failure like a gorilla on your lungs\" class=\"wp-image-866\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Ambad-the-gorilla-web-243x300.jpg 243w, https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Ambad-the-gorilla-web.jpg 634w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 243px) 100vw, 243px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Heart failure feels like a gorilla in your lungs\/Daily Mail<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imagine a 400-pound gorilla sitting on your fluid-filled lungs while doing this routine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dad weighed about 215 at the time and was six feet tall.&nbsp; He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, servicing and maintaining all kinds of planes, including the B29, which was the plane that dropped the big one on Hiroshima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the commanding officer gave orders, he did it. I have done <em>it<\/em>, and I shall carry <em>you<\/em>; and I shall bear <em>you<\/em>, and I shall deliver <em>you<\/em>.\u201d Ps 46:4<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Years may age the arteries, but they do not harden hope when God stands at the end of the tunnel, holding the light for your future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><sup>\u201c<\/sup>Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, the God <em>who <\/em>is our salvation. God is to us a God of deliverances; and to God the Lord belong escapes from death.&#8221;<br>\u2014 Ps 68:19-20<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God can deliver us even from death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But, one thing is required. Faith in Who has the power over life and death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" id=\"h-3-faith-gives-aging-a-future\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">3. Faith Gives Aging a Future<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"h-the-divine-formula-for-aging-well\">\u201cThe fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.&nbsp; For by me your days will be multiplied, and years of life will be added to you.&nbsp; If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, and if you scoff, you alone will bear it.\u201d<br>\u2014 Pr 9:10-12<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many today scoff at \u201cthe fear of the Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This scoffing dates back to the philosophy of Epicurus, who believed&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Life and death are purely understood in naturalistic terms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nature is the whole show. &nbsp;No supernatural realm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fine, says Solomon in the proverb above.&nbsp; Take that limited view to the grave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not dad.&nbsp; His formula for a <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/3-fresh-ways-to-feel-good-every-day\/\">positive outlook<\/a> was that God is greater than death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I keep my eyes always on the LORD.
