If I\u2019d worked even 10 percent less, across thirty years, that\u2019s three whole extra years of life I\u2019d have enjoyed.\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong> <em>Michael Ovitz<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cType A\u201d personalities easily succumb to the mirage of blind ambition and it ends up costing time and valuable relationships in their&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>faith<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>family<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>friends<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>\u201cWhen I started building those kinds of [other business] relationships, I didn\u2019t realize I was sacrificing relationships that were actually more important to me, because I was completely engrossed in what I was doing. I wish I [had a close adviser to caution me], but I didn\u2019t.\u201d&nbsp; <\/strong>Michael Ovitz<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" id=\"h-gift-2-use-nbsp-questions-for-better-direction\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Gift #2:<\/mark><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Use&nbsp;questions for better direction<\/mark><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Perhaps the hardest gift to accept is advice.&nbsp; Even harder, seek it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, it starts by asking questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Magi, opened the door to wealth with one question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>\u201cWhere is the one who has been born king of the Jews?&nbsp; We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong> Matthew 2:2<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Their question led to an audience with Herod, an unlikely source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My gifted artist mother-in-law calls this a <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/great-wealth-comes-to-those-who-see-the-invisible\/\">&#8220;happy accident.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Herod confirmed the next step in their quest for real gold.&nbsp; Lasting gold.&nbsp; Gold that held\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>life<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>energy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>power<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>\u201cThen Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, \u2018Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.\u2019 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.\u201d&nbsp; <\/strong>Matthew 2:7-9<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" id=\"h-gift-3-friends-with-divine-encounters\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Gift 3:<\/mark><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Friends with divine encounters<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I imagined the Magi (specialists in astronomy at that time) back at home in the Caspian Country Club chatting with their buddies in the 19<sup>th<\/sup> hole.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image size-large wp-image-3777\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"577\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/A-Pompeian-Country-Club-go-1024x577.jpg\" alt=\"gifts at country club\" class=\"wp-image-3777\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/A-Pompeian-Country-Club-go-1024x577.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/A-Pompeian-Country-Club-go-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/A-Pompeian-Country-Club-go-768x433.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.steveblaising.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/A-Pompeian-Country-Club-go.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Ancient Pompeian Country Club\/#thegreatcoursesplus<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Their friends asked where they&#8217;d been and what they&#8217;d done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe had a fantastic time!&nbsp; It was just unbelievable!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTell us about it!&nbsp; You went to see a King!&nbsp; Tell us about his palace!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWell,\u201d they looked at each other with that smile that goes on between people who\u2019ve shared an experience that\u2019s hard to put into words, \u201cWell, to tell you the truth, it\u2019s kind of hard to describe it, uh\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWell, was it a big house, what was it?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWell\u2026no\u2026to tell you the truth\u2026it was uh\u2026well we gotta be honest with you, it was a stable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA stable?&nbsp; You mean the king was out there looking at his horses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOh no, he lived there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA king in a stable?&nbsp; Well he must have been impressive some other way to legitimize this kingship.
